My Story
Since the summer of 2004, I have been involved in some aspect of local mainstream radio broadcasting. I have been an on-air talent, a remote soundboard operator, a promotions assisstant, a podcaster, an audiobook narrator, and a college radio student operations manager that involved conducting club meetings as well as promotions and student-led program scheduling. However, my story really starts out as a podcaster looking to transform my broadcasting career into an audiobook narrator/producing career. I have been a podcaster since 2018.
At that time, my older brother convinced me to start a podcast because I really liked the NFL and more specifically, the Minnesota Vikings. I’m big on player and team stats, so he thought that would be an interesting podcast to listen to for most people. After giving it some thought, I decided to give it a try. At first, I had no clue what it really should be about, but then he said that because I am stats guy and I like doing internet research, he thought that’s where I should start. So, I started calling my podcast Ross’ Fancast because, at the time, I was trying to analyze the games the Vikings were playing. About a year later, I had gotten a message from a guy whom I hadn’t seen or heard from in about 15 years; Troy Larson. He was my supervisor when I was an intern at Y-94FM in Fargo, ND. Throughout our deep conversations, he advised me to revise my podcast name and come up with something different. Once I transitioned into researching former players and coaches of the Minnesota Vikings and understanding their story of how they made it to the NFL, I then decided to call my podcast The Pigskin Tales Podcast. It was supposed to be a look back at how some of the players and coaches made it professioanlly.
Over time, I have written and produced 75 episodes since I started with Ross’ Fancast and Pigskin Tales. By July 2020, my podcast was featured on The Sports History Network. As of 2025, I am no longer producing The Pigskin Tales Podcast for The Sports History Network.
It’s important to note that I went to college and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 2005. I also worked as a part time DJ and Intern for Y-94 FM in Fargo ND when it was owned by Clear Channel Radio. From 2016 – 2017, I worked as a part time DJ, sound board operator, and part time Promotions crewmember for Leighton Broadcasting Group located in Grand Forks, ND.
Since 2022, I have been involved with audiobook narration and production. To date, I have produced six (6) audiobooks for ACX (Audiobook Creation Exchange) and four (4) for Twin Tales Publishing. All ten (10) are available for purchase on audible.com or the Audible app. You can also purchase each audiobook on the iTunes Store.
